Why is brain fitness important?

Our thinking, emotions, behavior, and environment profoundly affect our brains. It’s called neuroplasticity. This resilience is great news because it puts us in the driver’s seat! … unless we don’t know where we’re going or how to get there.

With our brain’s pliability, it’s critical that we focus on what we want, not what we don’t want. It’s our responsibility to feed our brains worthwhile input.

The brain’s neural pathways are like our highways. The most traveled and populated areas have the largest network of highways. When you’re traveling cross-country, it’s unlikely that you’d choose country roads if you want to get to your destination quickly.

The brain is extremely efficient. It develops the largest and most efficient pathways for what is frequently needed and repeatedly used. The tricky part is that you might be using the same pathways developed as a kid! Unconscious and outdated habits often work against our desire for real change. It might be time to upgrade, don’t you think?


A personal note from Jennifer

So you might have guessed that one of my passions is brain science, but I haven’t yet told you why.

As a young adult, I struggled with severe bouts of depression and uncontrollable crying. I trusted no one. I could barely show up for work, and often I didn’t. Any conflict terrified me so I’d please others at my expense while seething with resentment (even though a smile was plastered on my face). When I wasn’t depressed, I often went off on my husband in a rage. I secretly lived in constant fear and was exhausted from round-the-clock mental flogging, which drove me into manic cycles to prove myself. Then I’d shut down and retreat to a cave of darkness to sleep for a week or more, unable to pull myself out of bed.

I pursued many routes of healing, yet none worked for me. I still found myself stuck UNTIL I embarked on a journey to understand the connection between my thoughts and emotions with what experiences I was creating unconsciously. I turned down the volume of mental harassment and turned up the volume to my true self, listening carefully to my intuition.

Fast forward: I have completely rewired my brain, have a fabulous marriage, and a happy and amazing life where I’m showing up 100%. And the really cool thing: I designed and re-patterned my neural pathways before science proved it was even possible.

Then I studied the brain and neuroscience for over a decade from a lay perspective to enhance my understanding. My journey and subsequent study has uniquely equipped me with insights and knowledge that create a bridge for others to walk across. I know the ins and outs of the process of change: how to avoid all the stall-outs, pitfalls, and sly justifications of the mind. I developed a roadmap utilizing the inner workings of the brain.

Coupled with vital emotional intelligence tools and people skills, my clients and students are empowered to succeed. They not only design a life and business they love but are armed with the practical tools to simplify and personalize brain science. They make dramatic changes fast because they know where they’re going, what to expect along the way, and exactly how to get there.
